They are looking for an enthusiastic candidate to strengthen their Research & Development department in the position of Breeder Leek.
Tasks and responsibilities
Develop and maintain a germplasm pool to ensure successful results
Fully responsible for parental lines and hybrids to ensure the viability of the program
Collaborate with other research departments: plan with station manager the needs for the program, with pathology to ensure resistant material and with biotech to get better/faster information about the breeding program. To be up to date regarding market information to better focus the breeding program
Contribute to crop team to develop the correct decisions regarding life cycles
Collaborate with external institutions to get results on particular research matters
Stay within budgetary and safety guidelines
Your qualifications
Bachelor degree with relevant experience in plant breeding, or a PhD / Master’s degree in plant sciences discipline, preferably plant breeding
Demonstrated success in technical proficiency, scientific creativity, collaboration with others and independent thought
Experience with Plant Breeding/Genetics/Statistical analysis and/or molecular biology is a plus
You feel comfortable with field and greenhouse work
Excellent communication skills including the capability to clearly present information and influence or persuade others through oral or written communications (multilingual in Dutch/English)
Result oriented and problem solving skills
Team player and willing to work with diverse cultural groups
Self-motivated, creative person able to work with minimal supervision
Organized, with good record keeping skills
Computer proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office applications
